Previously I've posted pictures of the pupet heads of the camel and the Angel Gabriel , as well as a working drawing for the Camel. The pictures below show the skeletal structure for the bodies of these puppets, and give an idea of the scale and stage presence that the puppets will have.
I've been working on a puppet head of the Angel Gabriel. The head has gone through some revision, which was necessary to develop a more otherworldly character. I decided I wanted a neutral expression, that would help create an aloofness, and hopefully a sense of serenity, and higher purpose.
Here are some photo's of the progress in desinging /making the head of the Angel Gabriel. It began with a basic clay sculpt for the head, which was used as a cast for the lighter paper form shown in the images below. This was then fabricated & painted to take on the finished look of the Angel Gabriel.
Here are some more photo's of one of the finished Shepherds. As he is one of three Shepherds, I've decided to call him "Shepherd 2". Not so imaginative, but it helps clarify things for now. In one of my first posts on the blog, there are photo's of the initial clay sculpt for this puppet. I'm pleased now to show photo's of the finished puppet. To give a sense of the animation and character, I've posted quite a few images that show a range of expression.
Sculpt of camels headFollowing on from designing the camel on paper, here are some images of the camels head i have been working on. This is an early stage in the process. Carved in polystyrene, the head will eventually be fabricated to take on the feel and texture of a camels head.
The project is evolving day by day. Sally Humble Jackson came up with the idea for the nativity in Cardiff, and is responsible for getting the project off the ground. As well as writing the script, she is co-ordinating the entire project, quite a feat! With a cast of actors and, directors, stage hands, and lighting crew, this is shaping up to be a an exciting project. I'm enjoying my role as conceptual artist for the Nativity play. My role involves designing the set, costumes, and puppets for the production. There is plenty of work to be done, in a short space of time. With the generous help of skilled volunteers, this shouldn't be a problem.
Currently I'm working on designing and making puppets for a new Nativity theatrical production , due to be finished in time for the Christmas season 2010. I'm also still busy making the "Welsh Ladies" line, which are proving to be incredibly popular. Hope to post some pictures soon to show the work in progress including costume designs for the Nativity play I have been working on.Anonymoushttp://www.blogger.com/profile/08445919609104424471noreply@blogger.com0
